“Minimalism has been influencing aesthetics for a long time, but now it is about the exaggeration of minimalism in form and concept” trendsobserver.com

Eclipse table by Ventura Lab

«The eclipse table involves people in order to make them investigate surfaces, feel the different textures and use them according to their understanding of the object.»   The table was named for working with different layers at different heights that overlap. This overlapping of the layers with the whole black color of the table and its rounded ends comes from the inspiration in the natural eclipse phenomenon. With a minimalist and functional design, the product absorbs an abstract concept of nature and transforms it into a geometric object with a simple functionality. In a second moment, the poetic concept stays in the background and gives space for the valuation of the furniture’s surface, which stimulates the user’s touch and perception about the differences between the materials that compose it. These different sensations transmitted by the coexistence of the steel surface and the wooden surface are closely linked to the daily experiences and repertoire of people’s lives, which through affective memory tend to feel a more emotional attachment and warmth in the texture of the wood and …

Bomfim by Bruna Bortolotti

« (…) I maintain my taste for subtlety, for the discarding of the superfluous, an aesthetic and repertoire that I acquired in the study of the architecture and the practice of the workshop.»   Created in 2015 by Bruna Bortolotti, Bortolotti is a jewelry label that has in the manufacture and design process, the author’s premise for its creations. With small-scale production, all the pieces are handcrafted by the young goldsmith artist of 23 years, in the workshop in Fortaleza, HQ of Bortolotti. Her process of creating is totally intuitive, the models are born in the middle of design production. She learned from her grandfather to fuse and lapse her creations, produced “in the old fashion”, respecting time. All the pieces bring in themselves lightness and minimalism, aesthetic choices that start with the idea of permanence and simplicity. Earrings, rings, necklaces and other objects bring in the fabric of the design process: distorted circumferences, apparent hooks, polished and unpolished finish, grooves of the metal. The pieces tell much about a way of seeing the world …

Atomy Store Bags

«Objects that surround us gain in importance and serve us much longer if they become our personal value.»   Our brand stands for ethical practices and sustainable production. The brand’s philosophy is based on the concept of Lean Manufacturing or the method of effective production management. We wanted to focus on a management model that relies on resource efficiency and guarantees high quality. We do not generate waste. All products have been designed in the most ergonomic way. Each smallest piece of leather that remains after cutting the patch is being reused to produce smaller parts: straps, loops, accessories. We base our production on local crafts, use only services of regional producers and suppliers, trying to implant the idea of making more aware purchasing decisions among our clients. We believe that supporting regional creativity is not only an investment in the community, but it’s also shaping an even stronger consumer awareness. All ATOMS are sewn by hand and produced at a local workshop. According to the latest reports, the negative effects of the textile industry are …

Are Studio

«The bags have soft curved shapes that compliment a body well and incorporate some versatility, whether it be multiple ways to wear a bag or how they transform a silhouette.» Form and Function are concepts at the forefront of my bag collections. I think about the shape of objects, the space they consume and how they exist in daily life.  The bag styles are meant to be integrated into your routine seamlessly as if they are an extension of yourself.  They carry belongings that are chosen to be by your side all day and at the ready for anything that comes your way. The ss17 collection is an extension of explorations of shape coupled with a little romanticism. The bags have soft curved shapes that compliment a body well and incorporate some versatility, whether it be multiple ways to wear a bag or how they transform a silhouette. The clothing collection is meant to support the bags and extend the vision of the brand.  It represents everyday staples that play with the understated sensuality that …

NDT. Design Brand

«Even though people become more sophisticated each day, there is still a need for authentic and human experiences, and we believe this involves greats moments as parties, dinners or a simple cake baked by grandmother.» NDT.design was founded twenty-two years ago in a small town of São Paulo’s state. A city that has about 15.000 residents, hidden in the heart of Brazil, where people walk around or ride their bikes, where is very normal to see someone riding his/her horse among the cars. I have learned a lot from this lifestyle, and my inspiration comes from my experiences. There is so much pleasure about being around people who live in a simple way and are extremely happy with the little miracles of every day. When I created NDT.Design, I was thinking about the best way of providing that type of feeling with my work. NDT.Design is currently located in the USA, in Florida, where we sell our products on e-commerce such as www.fab.com, www.wayfair.com, www.houzz.com, www.etsy.com, and www.amazon.com. Besides that, we are always looking for important exhibitions such as …

Brettsofa | plank-couch by Carrothead

«Like its ancestors, the Brettsofa is focused on material and classic joinery, but elaborated in a combination of CNC-milling machines and handwork. It´s in a way a missing piece in this series/style of furniture – the one to comfortably spend your leisure-time on.»   The “Brettsofa” is based on the traditional alpine “plank chair” (Stabelle). A simple and light wooden seating furniture to lounge around indoors and outdoors. Used with cushions and blankets, it´s an alternative to the normal standard-couch. Old handcrafted furniture from the alpine region had a very simple design, based on the use of classic joinery, entirely made out of wood and focused on serving the very needs of mainly poor people. In a life focused on hard manual labor, far away from leisure, comfort, and luxury, these stools, benches, tables had to last at least a lifetime. Like its ancestors, the Brettsofa is focused on material and classic joinery, but elaborated in a combination of CNC-milling machines and handwork. It´s in a way a missing piece in this series/style of furniture – the …

Basso by UTIL

«What is there that makes us disconnect from this overwhelming digital world and allows us to connect and socialize with our friends and family?» Basso is a mini bar included in the first set of products launched by UTIL last January in Paris. It is interesting to go back and notice that Basso was, in fact, the first product and the typology that triggered the whole concept behind the brand. We were discussing how important it is to choose the right typologies to develop a brand and how they tend to set the tone of it. We arrived to the mini bar as a typology which in terms of shape can be described as a trolley on wheels. I have this blurry memory when I was maybe six and when I used to stay at my grandparent’s place regarding the tea break. At a precise time in the middle of the afternoon, everything would stop and this trolley would come up with tea and toasts. At this time everyone would stop and join together for …

Jewellery by Arc Objects

«The pieces are unique in their boldness, in their simplicity, in their abstraction. They push the boundaries of wearable and usable sculpture.» ARC is a concept, not a product: it is, at its core, a body of work that seeks to encourage mindfulness and individual creative expression. From jewelry to home objects, it is a collection that explores and experiments with wearable and functional sculpture. An arc is simultaneously a shape and a concept; similarly, ARC objects seek to be both literal and figurative. It is the continuation of my thesis project at Parsons. The pieces are unique in their boldness, in their simplicity, in their abstraction. They push the boundaries of wearable and usable sculpture. ARC is not inspired by trends; in fact, the designs are born from quite the opposite starting point. ARC is inspired by timeless beauty; colors, shapes, textures found in nature; the surreal; the abstract; and asymmetry that feels as balanced as symmetry.
